There is now a National Occupational Standard for Fundraising. To quote from the website: “National Occupational Standards for Fundraising set out the skills that staff and volunteers who are responsible for raising funds for their organisation should have as well as what they should know and understand in order to do their job well.”
I have yet to read this publication in full, but anything that sets the standard for charity fundraising has got to be good news. The only problem is the publication is 125 pages long. In these times of reduced staffing and scarce volunteers, getting staff or volunteers to follows this should be quite a challenge. I’ll try and summarise it for a future blog.
